Where the research points

Summary of studies, not a recommendation

Consider Sermorelin if…

  • you want human data in growth-hormone-deficient children, though uncontrolled: Mean height velocity rose from 4.1 cm/yr at baseline to 8.0 cm/yr at 6 months and 7.2 cm/yr at 12 months (open-label, no control group).[18]

Consider BPC-157 if…

  • you want any human reports (a small, uncontrolled report): 14 of 16 patients (87.5%) reported relief with BPC 157 alone or combined with thymosin beta-4 (TB4).[19]

What they have in common

  • Caution on BPC-157 evidence from a systematic review: Only 1 of 36 included studies was clinical; 35 were preclinical.[20]
Neither is FDA approved for any use in people. Both are prohibited in tested sport (WADA). Status labels come from public FDA and WADA records; see the sources below.

WADAProhibited by WADA (S2.2.4)Sermorelin is named as a GHRH analogue in S2.2.4 (growth hormone releasing factors), prohibited at all times.Prohibited by WADA (S0)BPC-157 is named in S0 (non-approved substances), prohibited at all times, in and out of competition.
Anti-doping detection
  • A urine assay detects CJC-1295 and other GHRH analogues at very low concentrations.PMID 35298973
  • Labs expect GHRH analogues like CJC-1295 to be hard to find because of tiny urine concentrations; the study reports no detections in routine anti-doping samples.PMID 34665524
  • A 2023 method detects BPC-157 and five main metabolites in human urine at very low concentrations.PMID 37959764
  • A 2017 anti-doping lab method detects BPC 157 in urine; the peptide was stable in urine for at least 4 days.PMID 28035768
