What studies measured

Each outcome below comes from a published study, with its type and size, strongest design first. Animal and cell results are labelled as such and are not human results.

KPV outcomes in published studies
OutcomeResultStudy typeSource
DSS colitis recoveryKPV-treated mice recovered earlier and regained more body weight in DSS colitis.Animal · mouse (not a human result)Inflammatory bowel diseases 2008, PMID 18092346
Survival in MC1R-nonfunctional miceKPV treatment rescued all treated MC1R-nonfunctional mice from death during DSS colitis.Animal · mouse (not a human result)Inflammatory bowel diseases 2008, PMID 18092346
Colitis incidence (oral KPV)Oral KPV in drinking water reduced the incidence of DSS- and TNBS-induced colitis in mice and lowered inflammatory cytokine expression.Animal · mouse (plus human intestinal epithelial and T cell lines) (not a human result)Gastroenterology 2008, PMID 18061177
Peritonitis (neutrophil accumulation)KPV reduced inflammatory cell accumulation in mouse peritonitis through a mechanism distinct from other melanocortin peptides.Animal · mouse (not a human result)The Journal of pharmacology and experimental therapeutics 2003, PMID 12750433
FeverThe tripeptide reduced fever in rabbits after central (0.5-2.0 mg) and peripheral (2-200 mg) administration.Animal · rabbit (not a human result)Peptides 1984, PMID 6333677
Keratinocyte viability and IL-1betaKPV at 50 ug/mL restored cell viability and reduced IL-1beta secretion in PM10-exposed keratinocytes.In vitro (not a human result)Tissue & cell 2025, PMID 40073467
Skin permeationKPV did not permeate human skin by passive diffusion alone (below the detection limit of 0.01 ug/mL); microneedles and iontophoresis were needed. In vitro (not a human result)Journal of pharmaceutical sciences 2017, PMID 28343991
Degradation under stressUnder acid, alkali and hydrogen peroxide stress KPV degraded mainly to lys-pro-diketopiperazine.In vitro (not a human result)Biomedical chromatography 2015, PMID 25298219
Airway epithelial inflammatory signallingKPV dose-dependently inhibited NF-kB signalling, MMP-9 activity, and IL8 and eotaxin secretion in cultured airway cells. In vitro (not a human result)International journal of physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology 2012, PMID 22837805
Cyclic AMP signallingKPV did not raise cyclic AMP in human keratinocytes (mechanism study; no clinical outcome). In vitro (not a human result)The Journal of investigative dermatology 2004, PMID 15102092
  • No human trial of KPV (alpha-MSH 11-13, Lys-Pro-Val) was found in PubMed as of 2 October 2026.
  • Evidence is limited to mouse colitis and peritonitis models, a 1984 rabbit fever study, and cell or ex vivo skin work. The animal papers date from 1984 to 2008.
  • No pharmacokinetic (half-life) data for KPV were found.
  • The only stability evidence is an HPLC stress-degradation study; it gives degradation product identity, not storage guidance for reconstituted peptide.
  • No evidence was found for psoriasis, eczema or rheumatoid arthritis; the inflammation findings rest on mouse and cell data only.

Typical timeline

When measurable changes appeared in studies of KPV: not reported in study abstracts (PubMed search, 2 Oct 2026).

Before-and-after photos

We don't publish before-and-after photos. They can't be verified, rarely show dose, diet or other drugs, and only the most dramatic results get posted.

Common questions

How long does KPV take to work?

The study abstracts we summarised for KPV do not report when outcomes were measured (PubMed search, 2 Oct 2026).

Do you show KPV before and after photos?

No. Photos can't be verified, rarely show dose, diet or other drugs, and only the most dramatic ones get posted. We summarize measured outcomes instead.
