How much water to add
Bacteriostatic water only changes the concentration, not the amount of TB-500 in the vial. More water means more units per dose (easier to read), less water means fewer.
| Water added | Concentration | 10 units contain | 1 mg is | Whole vial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 2 mg/mL | 0.2 mg | 50 u | 100 u |
| 2 mL | 1 mg/mL | 0.1 mg | 100 u | 200 u |

200 units (2 mL) on a 1 mL U-100 syringe: 2 mg from a 2 mg vial + 2 mL water (TB-500).
Dosing table for a 2 mg vial
Syringe units (U-100) for each dose, by how much bacteriostatic water you add.
| Dose | 1 mL water | 2 mL water | 2.5 mL water | 3 mL water |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5 mg | 25 | 50 | 62.5 | 75 |
| 1 mg | 50 | 100 | 125 | 150 |
| 2 mg | 100 | 200 | 250 | 300 |
How the math works
Concentration is the vial's milligrams divided by the water you add. Volume to draw is your dose divided by that concentration. On a U-100 syringe, 1 mL is 100 units, so units = mL × 100.
2 mg ÷ 1 mg/mL = 2 mL
2 mL × 100 = 200 units
Doses to set a 2 mg vial against
A horse doping-control study gives a single product dose containing 10 mg of N-acetylated LKKTETQ, the only absolute TB-500 amount in the cited papers. It is an animal amount and is not converted to a human one.[3]
Human intravenous dosing in the cited trials was of full-length thymosin beta-4 by weight, not TB-500 by vial.[4]
What 2 mg gives
Mixed with 1, 2 or 3 mL of water, a 2 mg TB-500 vial is 2, 1, 0.667 mg/mL, so one U-100 unit holds 20, 10, 6.67 mcg.
Calculated from vial mg 2; water mL 1, 2, 3; units per mL 100. Formula: mg/mL = vialMg / waterMl; mcg per unit = mg/mL x 1000 / 100
Is 2 mg a labelled strength?
No regulator lists a thymosin beta product, so there is no labelled strength to compare against.[5]
With 0 matching applications in Drugs@FDA for thymosin beta, a 2 mg vial cannot match a labelled strength.
Calculated from vial mg 2; drugs fda matches 0. Formula: labelled strengths = 0
Common questions
How much water goes in a 2 mg vial of TB-500?
That choice only changes the concentration. With 2 mL, a 2 mg vial is 1 mg/mL; with 1 mL it is 2 mg/mL. Less water means fewer units per dose and harder-to-read marks for small doses.
How many units is 1 mg from a 2 mg vial?
With 2 mL of water, 1 mg is 100 units on a U-100 syringe. With other water amounts, see the table.
How many doses are in a 2 mg vial?
Divide the vial size by the dose (in the same unit). The calculator on this page shows the number of whole doses for any dose you pick.
How much bacteriostatic water for a 2 mg of TB-500 vial?
Water volume only sets concentration: 1, 2 or 3 mL gives 2, 1, 0.667 mg/mL for the 2 mg vial.
Calculated from vial mg 2; water mL 1, 2, 3. Formula: mg/mL = vialMg / waterMl
