GHK-Cu vs BPC-157: What the Research Shows
GHK-Cu and BPC-157 side by side: what they are, how they are regulated and what is still unknown.

Quick verdict
Summary of studies, not a recommendationWhere the research points
Consider GHK-Cu if…
- you want a randomized trial of the topical gel in diabetic foot ulcers (an older study): Median ulcer area closure was 98.5% with the GHK-copper gel versus 60.8% with vehicle (p < 0.05).[20]
- you want a small randomized skin-care trial with mixed results: patients reported better skin quality (P = .04) but blinded and objective evaluation found no group difference[3]
- you are tested in sport and want to avoid a WADA-prohibited substance: BPC-157 is prohibited by WADA at all times (check GHK-Cu's own status separately)[2]
Consider BPC-157 if…
- you want any human reports (a small, uncontrolled report): 14 of 16 patients (87.5%) reported relief with BPC 157 alone or combined with thymosin beta-4 (TB4).[21]
What they have in common
- Caution on BPC-157 evidence from a systematic review: Only 1 of 36 included studies was clinical; 35 were preclinical.[22]
Neither is FDA approved for any use in people. BPC-157 is prohibited in tested sport (WADA). Status labels come from public FDA and WADA records; see the sources below.

The catch-all class S0 prohibits any drug with no approval anywhere for human use, so it would be banned if no health authority has approved it, but we have not verified that for this substance. | Prohibited by WADA (S0)BPC-157 is named in S0 (non-approved substances), prohibited at all times, in and out of competition. |
