Does ipamorelin increase appetite?
In rats recovering from surgery, repeated ipamorelin increased food intake and weight gain. This is animal evidence in a postoperative model.
GHRP (ghrelin receptor agonist)Updated
Short answer
In rats recovering from surgery, repeated ipamorelin increased food intake and weight gain. This is animal evidence in a postoperative model.[1]
In the human trial after bowel resection, time to first tolerated meal was 25.3 hours on ipamorelin and 32.6 on placebo, a difference that was not statistically significant (p = 0.15). The measure is meal timing, not an appetite score.[2]
Another animal model
In ferrets given a chemotherapy drug, ipamorelin and a related compound reduced weight loss by about 24% on the last day measured, again an animal result.[3]
