Ipamorelin Results: What Studies Measured and When
What published studies measured for Ipamorelin, when those outcomes were measured, and what is still unproven.
What studies measured
Each outcome below comes from a published study, with its type and size, strongest design first. Animal and cell results are labelled as such and are not human results.
| Outcome | Result | Study type | Source |

| Cisplatin-induced weight loss | Ipamorelin did not change emesis but reduced cisplatin-induced weight loss by approximately 24% on the last day of the delayed phase (48-72 h). | Animal · ferret (not a human result) | Physiology & behavior 2024, PMID 39043357 |
| Visceral and somatic pain behaviour | Ipamorelin reduced colonic hypersensitivity and paw allodynia in rats; the models are not joint or back pain models. | Animal · rat (not a human result) | Journal of experimental pharmacology 2020, PMID 32801950 |

| Food intake and weight gain | Repeated dosing at 0.1 or 1 mg/kg increased fecal output, food intake and body weight gain in rats after surgery. | Animal · rat (not a human result) | The Journal of pharmacology and experimental therapeutics 2009, PMID 19289567 |
| Muscle strength and bone formation under glucocorticoid | Adding ipamorelin to glucocorticoid increased calf-muscle tetanic tension and raised periosteal bone formation four-fold versus glucocorticoid alone. | Animal · rat (not a human result) | Growth hormone & IGF research 2001, PMID 11735244 |
| Body weight and bone mineral content | Ipamorelin, another GHRP and GH all increased body weight and bone mineral content versus vehicle; BMC per body weight was unchanged. | Animal · rat (not a human result) | The Journal of endocrinology 2000, PMID 10828840 |

| ACTH and cortisol | Unlike other GHRP agonists, ipamorelin did not raise ACTH or cortisol beyond GHRH-stimulated levels in swine. | Animal · rat and swine (plus rat pituitary cells in vitro) (not a human result) | European journal of endocrinology 1998, PMID 9849822 |
| Clearance and nasal absorption | Intranasal bioavailability of ipamorelin in rats was approximately 20%. | Animal · rat (not a human result) | Xenobiotica; the fate of foreign compounds in biological systems 1998, PMID 9879640 |
- Human evidence is limited to two studies: a phase 2 randomized trial in 117 bowel-resection patients (25331030) that found no significant benefit over placebo for time to first tolerated meal, and a pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic study in healthy male volunteers (10496658). No human trial of ipamorelin for the listed lifestyle goals has been published in PubMed as of 2 October 2026.
- No human study found for: energy, sleep, joint pain, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, back pain, menopause or perimenopause, longevity, belly fat, blood pressure, cholesterol, heart health, bulking, cutting, or age-specific goals (men and women over 40 or 50).
- Everything else is animal work (rat, swine, ferret) or pharmacology. The pain study (32801950) used visceral and paw hypersensitivity models, not joint or back pain. Body-weight and bone findings in rats do not show effects in people.
- Ipamorelin is not an approved drug and has no FDA label. No stability study was found.
- No named adverse events were found for ipamorelin in PubMed or ClinicalTrials.gov as of 2026-10-11 (query: ipamorelin AND adverse/side effect/safety/tolerability/toxicity/case report; 11 hits). The phase 2 postoperative-ileus trial (NCT00672074) reports only the overall rate of treatment-emergent adverse events (87.5% ipamorelin vs 94.8% placebo) and has no posted results table, so individual events cannot be named.

Before-and-after photos
Human results
In the bowel-resection trial, one hundred seventeen patients were enrolled and 114 formed the safety and modified intent-to-treat populations.[1]
Volunteers given ipamorelin infusions showed GH release at every dose level, with half-maximal stimulation at 214 nmol/L.[2]
The trial authors note their proof-of-concept study was small and enrolled patients with a broad range of underlying conditions.[1]
Animal results with timepoints
Rats given ipamorelin had a longitudinal bone growth rate of 44, 50 and 52 microm/day against 42 microm/day for vehicle.[10]
In a rat study, ipamorelin raised total bone mineral content measured by DXA, but the ratio to body weight was unaffected.[9]
In rats after laparotomy, intravenous ipamorelin at 0.014 µmol/kg left 52% of a test meal in the stomach, compared with 44% in nonsurgical controls.[6]
Common questions
How long does Ipamorelin take to work?
The study abstracts we summarised for Ipamorelin do not report when outcomes were measured (PubMed search, 11 Oct 2026).
Do you show Ipamorelin before and after photos?
No. Photos can't be verified, rarely show dose, diet or other drugs, and only the most dramatic ones get posted. We summarize measured outcomes instead.
