Claimed: large weight loss
In a phase 3 trial in Chinese adults, mean body weight changed -10.09% with mazdutide at the lower dose, -12.55% at the higher dose and 0.45% with placebo at week 32.[5]
In a phase 3 trial in Chinese adults with obesity, mazdutide gave a week-60 body-weight change of -16.65% against -1.50% with placebo.[1]
In the US phase 2 trial, body weight at 32 weeks changed -18.1% with 16 mg, -15.6% with 10 mg and -7.3% with 3-6 mg, against -0.9% with placebo.[2]
Claimed: better blood sugar
In adults with type 2 diabetes, HbA1c fell 1.57% with 4 mg and 2.15% with 6 mg of mazdutide against 0.14% with placebo at week 24.[3]
Against 1.5 mg dulaglutide over 28 weeks, HbA1c differed by -0.24% with 4 mg and -0.30% with 6 mg of mazdutide.[4]
Claimed: heart and cholesterol benefits
A meta-analysis of randomized trials reported lower systolic blood pressure, diastolic pressure, total cholesterol and triglycerides with mazdutide than placebo, with heterogeneity noted for the effects.[9]
Where the evidence is thin
The meta-analysis authors concluded mazdutide appears effective for weight reduction with and without diabetes but with gastrointestinal side effects.[9]
The evidence file lists no half-life, stability study or evidence for liver health or osteoporosis for mazdutide, and the only non-Chinese weight trial is the US phase 2 study.
Calculated from evidence file web/src/data/evidence/mazdutide.json; half life found no; liver health studies 0; osteoporosis studies 0; non chinese weight trials 1. Formula: half-life values = 0; liver and bone studies = 0; non-Chinese weight trials = 1

Common questions
Is Mazdutide proven to work?
The strongest study we summarise for Mazdutide is human rct evidence, among 9 studies. A trial result is not an approval; see the legal status.
Does mazdutide work?
In placebo-controlled trials it produced larger weight changes than placebo; the main trials were in Chinese adults.[5]
