Does MOTS-c help with weight loss?

Not in people. The only treatment results are in mice, where MOTS-c prevented diet-induced obesity.

Mitochondrial-derived peptideUpdated

Short answer

Not in people. The only treatment results are in mice, where MOTS-c prevented diet-induced obesity.[1]

In ovariectomized mice, a model of the postmenopausal state, treatment prevented obesity as well.[2]

In adults, natural serum MOTS-c did not differ between those with obesity and those with normal BMI, so low levels do not explain obesity in that study.[3]
