How much water to add
Bacteriostatic water only changes the concentration, not the amount of Cagrilintide in the vial. More water means more units per dose (easier to read), less water means fewer.
| Water added | Concentration | 10 units contain | 1 mg is | Whole vial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 10 mg/mL | 1 mg | 10 u | 100 u |

How the math works
Concentration is the vial's milligrams divided by the water you add. Volume to draw is your dose divided by that concentration. On a U-100 syringe, 1 mL is 100 units, so units = mL × 100.
1 mg ÷ 5 mg/mL = 0.2 mL
0.2 mL × 100 = 20 units
Where the doses for a 10 mg cagrilintide vial come from
Weekly subcutaneous cagrilintide in the dose-finding trial came as 0.3, 0.6, 1.2, 2.4 or 4.5 mg arms.[3]
Down at 0.16 mg weekly, the phase 1b trial held the smallest cagrilintide dose on file.[4]
What a 10 mg vial gives
10 mg cagrilintide vial, lower trial doses: a 0.3 mg dose gives 33 full doses per vial and draws 3 units at 1 mL (hard to measure accurately), 6 units at 2 mL, 9 units at 3 mL; a 0.6 mg dose gives 16 full doses per vial and draws 6 units at 1 mL, 12 units at 2 mL, 18 units at 3 mL; a 1.2 mg dose gives 8 full doses per vial and draws 12 units at 1 mL, 24 units at 2 mL, 36 units at 3 mL.
Calculated from vial mg 10; doses mg 0.3, 0.6, 1.2; water mL 1, 2, 3; u100 units per mL 100; injections per week 1. Formula: full doses = floor(vialMg / doseMg); units = doseMg / (vialMg / waterMl) x 100; flag units < 5 or > 100
10 mg cagrilintide vial, higher trial doses: a 2.4 mg dose gives 4 full doses per vial and draws 24 units at 1 mL, 48 units at 2 mL, 72 units at 3 mL; a 4.5 mg dose gives 2 full doses per vial and draws 45 units at 1 mL, 90 units at 2 mL, 135 units at 3 mL (more than a 100-unit syringe holds).
Calculated from vial mg 10; doses mg 2.4, 4.5; water mL 1, 2, 3; u100 units per mL 100; injections per week 1. Formula: full doses = floor(vialMg / doseMg); units = doseMg / (vialMg / waterMl) x 100; flag units < 5 or > 100
A 10 mg vial mixed with 1, 2 or 3 mL of water is 10, 5 or 3.33 mg/mL, so one U-100 unit holds 100, 50 or 33.3 mcg.
Calculated from vial mg 10; water mL 1, 2, 3. Formula: mg/mL = vialMg / waterMl; mcg per unit = vialMg / waterMl x 10
Is 10 mg a labelled cagrilintide strength?
With no labelled cagrilintide product, the 10 mg vial size cannot be matched to an FDA strength; the doses above are trial arms only.
Calculated from vial mg 10. Formula: compare vialMg with each labelled strength in mg (none exist)
The price dataset checked on 2026-10-02 holds 24 single-vial listings at 10 mg with a median of $108.5, which is $10.85 per mg.
Calculated from vial mg 10; listings 24; median 108.5; median per mg 10.85; source our price listings dataset. Formula: medianPerMg = median / vialMg
Common questions
How much water goes in a 10 mg vial of Cagrilintide?
That choice only changes the concentration. With 2 mL, a 10 mg vial is 5 mg/mL; with 1 mL it is 10 mg/mL. Less water means fewer units per dose and harder-to-read marks for small doses.
How many units is 1 mg from a 10 mg vial?
With 2 mL of water, 1 mg is 20 units on a U-100 syringe. With other water amounts, see the table.
How many doses are in a 10 mg vial?
Divide the vial size by the dose (in the same unit). The calculator on this page shows the number of whole doses for any dose you pick.
How many units is a 0.6 mg dose from a 10 mg cagrilintide vial?
Mixed with 2 mL of water the 10 mg vial is 5 mg/mL, so a 0.6 mg trial dose is 12 units on a U-100 syringe.
Calculated from vial mg 10; water mL 2; dose mg 0.6. Formula: units = doseMg / (vialMg / waterMl) x 100
