Evidence for testosterone
None of the study abstracts we summarised for MOTS-c reported an outcome for testosterone (PubMed search, 11 Oct 2026). Claims that it helps with testosterone are unproven.
How strong is it?
A human randomized trial outweighs any number of animal studies. Animal and cell results show a mechanism worth testing, not that it works in people.
What testosterone means in the MOTS-c context
MedlinePlus describes a testosterone levels test as a blood measurement of the hormone, which in both sexes helps control sex drive and muscle and bone growth.[7]
How many MOTS-c papers mention testosterone
A PubMed title-and-abstract search pairing MOTS-c terms with testosterone terms returned 4 records on 2026-10-29. That is a keyword-match tally for MOTS-c and testosterone, not a count of positive findings.
Calculated from pubmed query ("MOTS-c"[tiab] OR MOTSc[tiab]) AND (testosteron*[tiab] OR hypogonad*[tiab] OR "androgen deficiency"[tiab]); date 2026-10-29; count 4. Formula: record count of the PubMed [tiab] query on the date shown, as logged by the literature ledger; no arithmetic
What the retrieved MOTS-c abstracts say about testosterone
In rats infused with MOTS-c into the brain's ventricles, testosterone and the pituitary hormones LH and FSH rose, which led the authors to suggest MOTS-c may stimulate the reproductive axis; this is animal work.[8]
In women with polycystic ovary syndrome and matched controls, serum MOTS-c was inversely associated with total testosterone; this is a correlation that does not show MOTS-c lowers testosterone.[9]
A mouse study of chemotherapy given before puberty lists low testosterone among the long-term problems it set out to address with humanin analogs and MOTS-c.[10]

Does MOTS-c help with testosterone?
None of the studies we summarised for MOTS-c (PubMed search, 11 Oct 2026) measured an outcome for testosterone. Treat claims that it helps with testosterone as unproven.
Is MOTS-c approved for testosterone?
No. MOTS-c is not FDA approved for any use, including testosterone.
What is the best peptide for testosterone?
There is no single answer. Our testosterone overview compares each candidate by evidence grade and legal status rather than by popularity.
Is there research on MOTS-c and testosterone?
PubMed held 4 records matching the MOTS-c and testosterone search terms when checked on 2026-10-29; a match is not evidence that MOTS-c helps with testosterone.
