Short answer

Acute pancreatitis was recorded as a serious event in single participants in phase 2 registries. In the obesity dose-finding registry it affected 1 of 62 in the top-dose step-up arm and 0 of 70 on placebo; counts this small cannot show cause.[1]

In the diabetes dose-finding registry, acute pancreatitis affected 1 of 47 in the lowest-dose arm and 1 of 26 in a mid-dose arm, against 0 of 45 on placebo.[2]

Who the trials left out

The late-stage obesity trial excluded anyone who had had pancreatitis, so its results say little about people with that history.[3]

The obesity dose-finding trial excluded a history of acute or chronic pancreatitis and symptomatic gallbladder disease.[1]
