Evidence for weight loss
Each row is an outcome related to weight loss from a published study, strongest design first. Animal and cell results are labelled and are not human results. User reports are not counted as evidence here.

How strong is it?
A human randomized trial outweighs any number of animal studies. Animal and cell results show a mechanism worth testing, not that it works in people.
Obesity, and where survodutide's trials sit
MedlinePlus separates obesity, meaning too much body fat, from being overweight, meaning weighing too much.[9]
The phase 2 obesity trial gave survodutide once weekly for 46 weeks, with 20 weeks of dose escalation and 26 weeks of dose maintenance.[4]
The registry lists percentage change in body weight to week 46 as that trial's primary outcome.[10]
How much weight changed in the trials
At week 46 the phase 2 groups changed by -6.2% (0.6 mg), -12.5% (2.4 mg), -13.2% (3.6 mg) and -14.9% (4.8 mg), against -2.8% on placebo.[4]
In the first phase 3 trial (obesity, no diabetes), the week-76 weight change was -12.2% in the 3.6-mg group and -13.0% in the 6.0-mg group, against -5.4% on placebo, and 72.6%, 71.9% and 46.3% respectively lost at least 5%.[1]
In adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes the phase 3 figures were -8.2% on 3.6 mg and -9.8% on 6.0 mg, against -3.9% on placebo.[2]
In a phase 2 trial in people with type 2 diabetes, survodutide at 1.8 mg weekly or more reduced weight more than semaglutide.[5]
A meta-analysis of 18 treatment arms with 1029 participants found a pooled weight difference of -8.33 kg versus control.[8]
What came with the weight loss
Gastrointestinal events occurred in 80.9% on 3.6 mg and 89.7% on 6.0 mg, against 47.9% on placebo, in the first phase 3 trial.[1]
In the phase 2 obesity trial, 75% of survodutide recipients had gastrointestinal events, against 42% on placebo.[4]

Does Survodutide help with weight loss?
The strongest study we summarise for weight loss is human rct evidence, across 8 studies with an outcome for weight loss. A trial result is not an approval; see the legal status.
Is Survodutide approved for weight loss?
No. Survodutide is not FDA approved for any use, including weight loss.
What is the best peptide for weight loss?
There is no single answer. Our weight loss overview compares each candidate by evidence grade and legal status rather than by popularity.
Does survodutide cause weight loss in trials?
In the first phase 3 trial, the week-76 weight change was -12.2% in the 3.6-mg group and -13.0% in the 6.0-mg group versus -5.4% on placebo.[1]
How does weight loss on survodutide compare with semaglutide?
Only one cached trial compared them: in adults with type 2 diabetes, 1.8 mg or more once weekly cut weight more than semaglutide.[5]
