Survodutide Side Effects: What Studies and Users Report
What FDA labels, clinical studies and people who use Survodutide report, how strong that evidence is, and what is still unknown.
Side effects reported in studies
Side effects reported in published studies, strongest design first. Frequencies are quoted as the source gives them; animal results are labelled.

Overall safety findings
What studies said about safety as a whole, without naming a specific effect.
| Finding | How common | Study type | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drug-related adverse events | single dose 25.0% healthy vs up to 25.0% cirrhosis; multiple dose 82.4% and 87.5% | Human uncontrolled trial | Journal of hepatology 2024, PMID 38857788 |
What users report
Side effects people describe from their own use of Survodutide, quoted from 23 Reddit threads we read in r/Peptides and r/Retatrutide (searched 11 Oct 2026). Each count is the number of different people in those threads, not how common the effect is. These reports are unverified: products bought outside a pharmacy are often mislabelled or impure, and many people take several compounds at once.
| What people noticed | People reporting it | In their words |
|---|---|---|
| Stomach or gut upset | 1 | “it did a number on my GI when I tried to raise the dose” r/Retatrutide, Dec 2024Also taking other compounds |
| Racing heart | 1 | “I tried stacking 2 months ago with servo but it was too much at that time I had a rapid heart rate” r/Retatrutide, Dec 2024Also taking other compounds |
| Irritability or mood changes | 1 | “I haven’t really noticed any side effects other than irritability” r/Retatrutide, Dec 2024Also taking other compounds |
A symptom others mention is not proof that it is harmless. If you have anything on the urgent list below, get care whatever others report.
What is not known
- How common each effect is at the doses people use outside of studies.
- Effects that take longer to appear than the length of the published studies.
- How Survodutide interacts with other medicines and supplements.
- Whether research-grade products, which are not checked by the FDA, behave like the material used in studies.
When to get medical help
This is not a complete list. A doctor or pharmacist can help you judge whether a symptom is related.
The most common adverse events
Gastrointestinal events were the most common in the first phase 3 trial: 80.9% on 3.6 mg and 89.7% on 6.0 mg against 47.9% on placebo.[1]
In the diabetes phase 3 trial, gastrointestinal events occurred in 182 (72.8%), 195 (77.7%) and 97 (38.6%) of the 3.6 mg, 6.0 mg and placebo groups.[2]
In the obesity phase 2 trial, 91% of survodutide recipients had an adverse event against 75% on placebo.[4]
In the MASH phase 2 trial, vomiting was reported by 41% against 4% and nausea by 66% against 23%, with serious events at 8% versus 7%.[5]
Stopping treatment and slowing the escalation
Of 386 treated in the obesity phase 2 trial, 233 (60.4%) completed 46 weeks, 61% on survodutide and 60% on placebo.[4]
A pooled analysis found a higher risk of stopping because of adverse events, and gastrointestinal events as the most common.[7]
The diabetes phase 2 authors said slower dose escalation could mitigate the dose-related gut events.[6]
Cirrhosis data and label warnings
People with cirrhosis had drug-related events in 87.5% of multiple-dose cohorts against 82.4% of healthy individuals over 28 weeks.[8]
Drugs@FDA lists no application, so no boxed warning or contraindication text exists to quote.[10]
