How strong is it?
A human randomized trial outweighs any number of animal studies. Animal and cell results show a mechanism worth testing, not that it works in people.

What epitalon studies measured in the retina
In Campbell rats, which have inherited retinal degeneration, epitalon was reported to strengthen the retina's electrical and functional activity and preserve its structure; this is an animal result.[1]
The same abstract states that epitalon therapy in patients with degenerative retinal lesions gave a positive clinical effect in 90% of cases, without describing a comparison group, so it cannot be read as a controlled trial.[1]
When epitalon was given to the mothers of Campbell rats before mating and during pregnancy, and to the pups, the retina was preserved about twice as long as in controls.[2]
In a human retinal cell line damaged by high glucose, epitalon restored impaired wound healing in a dish, and the authors say more mechanistic work is needed to confirm its benefits and safety.[3]
