A systematic review describes GHK-Cu as an endogenous matricryptin released from collagen and SPARC.[10]

The same review lists decorin and glycosaminoglycan organization, reduced fibrosis through a TGF-beta family signal, and iron-linked antioxidant defence as further mechanisms.[10]

Anti-inflammatory signalling in mice and cells

In mouse lung injury and in lab-grown macrophages, the effect was linked to NF-κB p65 and p38 MAPK signalling.[11]

In silicosis mice, the complex bound an antioxidant protein named PRDX6.[12]

In mouse colitis, the proposed pathway runs through SIRT1 and STAT3.[13]

Cell growth and blood vessels

In lab-grown human vein cells, the liposome-encapsulated complex raised the proliferation rate and boosted growth-factor expression.[14]

In a rat knee-ligament model, the effect on stiffness appeared at the 6-week point after surgery.[15]
