Copper tripeptideUpdated

Short answer

Mostly in cells and animals, not yet shown in people. A review of topical GHK concluded that, on cell-study evidence, it can be considered an anti-wrinkle ingredient, but a cell result is not a result in people.[1]

In rats after knee ligament reconstruction, GHK-Cu helped early but the benefit was gone by the later check, so even the animal effect was temporary.[2]

How it is thought to act

In mice with silicosis, GHK-Cu bound a protein called PRDX6 and reduced lung inflammation and fibrosis, one proposed mechanism.[3]

In rats, the peptide was quickly degraded in plasma to a smaller fragment (HK), which was also eliminated quickly.[4]

Common questions

How does copper peptide work?

In the mouse silicosis study the effects were partly related to the inhibition of oxidative stress in lung macrophages by GHK-Cu. This is animal and cell work; the mechanism in people has not been shown.[3]
