Short answer
Not yet as a medicine: retatrutide is described as under investigation for obesity, type 2 diabetes and related conditions, so any diabetes use so far is within trials.[1]
What the type 2 diabetes trials measured
In the phase 2 diabetes trial, HbA1c fell 2.02% in the 12 mg escalation group against 1.41% on 1.5 mg dulaglutide and 0.01% on placebo.[2]
In the phase 3 trial of adults whose diabetes was inadequately controlled by diet and exercise, HbA1c fell 1.94% on 12 mg against 0.81% on placebo.[3]
A review of phase 2 data says 27% of participants with type 2 diabetes reached normoglycemia, defined as an HbA1c below 5.7%.[4]
In people with obesity and type 2 diabetes, the phase 3 trial found weight fell 18.8% on 12 mg at week 80 against 5.1% on placebo.[1]
