Short answer

The label contraindicates tesamorelin in pregnant women.[1]

What is known for women

The 412-person pivotal trial was 86% men, so it says little about women.[2]

The muscle analysis of two trials was also mostly male (87%), again limiting what can be said for women.[3]

In pregnancy, rats given tesamorelin during organogenesis had offspring with hydrocephaly, and the label says to stop the drug if pregnancy occurs (animal data).[1]

For breastfeeding, the label says mothers should not breastfeed while receiving the drug, citing HIV transmission, viral resistance and unknown drug effects.[1]
