Evidence for longevity

Each row is an outcome related to longevity from a published study, strongest design first. Animal and cell results are labelled and are not human results. User reports are not counted as evidence here.

How strong is it?

Strongest evidence:Animal evidence, 2 of 4Voprosy onkologii 2005, PMID 15909815

A human randomized trial outweighs any number of animal studies. Animal and cell results show a mechanism worth testing, not that it works in people.

Healthy ageing in plain terms

MedlinePlus says that as we age, our minds and bodies change, and that a healthy lifestyle can help people deal with those changes.[7]

Lifespan studies in animals

In female SHR mice injected monthly, epitalon did not change mean life span, but the longest-lived group lived longer: the last 10% of survivors by 13.3% and maximum life span by 12.3%.[2]

In fruit flies fed epitalon only during development, adult lifespan rose by 11-16% at very low concentrations, and the increase did not depend on dose.[3]

In senescence-accelerated mice, epitalon prevented irregular oestrous cycles and was followed by longer survival of the last 10% of survivors in the SAMP-1 strain.[1]

Cell studies on ageing markers

In telomerase-negative human fetal fibroblasts, epitalon induced telomerase activity and telomere elongation, a cell-culture finding.[5]

In cultured lymphocytes from people aged 76-80, epitalon activated ribosomal genes and loosened condensed chromatin, again measured in cells outside the body.[6]

In breast cancer cell lines, telomere length extended through ALT activation, which the authors say was specific to cancer cells.[4]

Common questions

Does Epitalon help with longevity?

The strongest study we summarise for longevity is animal evidence, across 6 studies with an outcome for longevity. That is not proof it works in people.

Is Epitalon approved for longevity?

No. Epitalon is not FDA approved for any use, including longevity.

What is the best peptide for longevity?

There is no single answer. Our longevity overview compares each candidate by evidence grade and legal status rather than by popularity.

Does epitalon extend lifespan?

In mice it changed the lifespan of the longest-lived animals but not mean life span; no human lifespan study is cited.[2]

Does epitalon lengthen telomeres in people?

It lengthened telomeres in cultured human cells in a dish; the cited papers do not measure telomeres in treated people.[4]
