Evidence for diabetes
Each row is an outcome related to diabetes from a published study, strongest design first. Animal and cell results are labelled and are not human results. User reports are not counted as evidence here.
| Outcome | Result | Study type | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Body weight at week 76 (coprimary) | Body weight changed by -9.8% with 6.0 mg and -8.2% with 3.6 mg versus -3.9% with placebo. | Human RCTn = 752 | The New England journal of medicine 2026, PMID 42820639 |
| HbA1c | Glycated hemoglobin changed by -0.9 percentage points (3.6 mg) and -0.8 (6.0 mg) versus -0.2 with placebo. | Human RCTn = 752 | The New England journal of medicine 2026, PMID 42820639 |
| HbA1c vs semaglutide | HbA1c fell by -1.46% with low-dose survodutide (DG2) and -1.47% with semaglutide. | Human RCTn = 413 | Diabetologia 2024, PMID 38095657 |
| Body weight | Body weight fell dose-dependently up to -8.7% (DG6), greater than with semaglutide (-5.3%) for survodutide 1.8 mg weekly or more. | Human RCTn = 413 | Diabetologia 2024, PMID 38095657 |
| HbA1c | Survodutide reduced HbA1c by a weighted mean difference of -0.66% (95% CI -1.08 to -0.23) versus placebo. | Meta-analysisn = 1272 | Diabetes, obesity & metabolism 2025, PMID 40922121 |

How strong is it?
A human randomized trial outweighs any number of animal studies. Animal and cell results show a mechanism worth testing, not that it works in people.
Diabetes, and the survodutide trials registered for it
In MedlinePlus's words, diabetes is a disease where blood sugar (glucose) sits at levels that are too high.[4]
The phase 2 diabetes trial asked for HbA1c change over 16 weeks as its primary outcome.[5]
The phase 3 diabetes trial lists HbA1c change to week 76 as a secondary outcome, not a primary one.[6]
What HbA1c did
In the phase 2 trial, HbA1c fell by 1.46% in a low-dose survodutide group and by 1.47% on semaglutide.[2]
In the same trial the DG3 group had an HbA1c fall of 1.71% from baseline.[2]
In adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes, HbA1c moved by -0.9 percentage points on 3.6 mg, -0.8 on 6.0 mg and -0.2 on placebo, from a baseline of 7.4%.[1]
A pooled analysis of six trials found HbA1c lower than placebo by 0.66 percentage points on average.[3]
Safety in people with diabetes
In the phase 2 diabetes trial, adverse events were reported by 77.8% of survodutide recipients, 52.5% on placebo and 52.0% on semaglutide.[2]
The authors say the dose-related gastrointestinal events could be mitigated with slower dose escalation.[2]
A pooled analysis found a higher risk of stopping treatment because of adverse events, with no significant rise in serious adverse events.[3]

Does Survodutide help with diabetes?
The strongest study we summarise for diabetes is human rct evidence, across 3 studies with an outcome for diabetes. A trial result is not an approval; see the legal status.
Is survodutide approved for diabetes?
The cached sources describe survodutide as investigational, with no approved diabetes indication found.[1]
What is the best peptide for diabetes?
There is no single answer. Our diabetes overview compares each candidate by evidence grade and legal status rather than by popularity.
Does survodutide lower HbA1c?
In the 16-week phase 2 trial in people with type 2 diabetes on metformin, survodutide reduced HbA1c in all dose groups reported.[2]
