A human randomized trial outweighs any number of animal studies. Animal and cell results show a mechanism worth testing, not that it works in people.

Studies in women, by population

In healthy women, kisspeptin-54 raised LH most in the preovulatory phase and least in the follicular phase.[6]

In women with hypothalamic amenorrhea, twice-daily injections produced a falling LH and FSH response by the 14th injection day.[5]

In women with hypothalamic amenorrhea, 8 weeks of twice-weekly kisspeptin-54 raised reproductive hormones versus saline, and no adverse effects were observed.[4]

In women having IVF, kisspeptin-54 triggered egg maturation, with biochemical and clinical pregnancy rates reported.[7]

In women with polycystic ovary syndrome, a pilot cohort showed small rises in LH and ovulation in only some women.[18]

In premenopausal women with HSDD, kisspeptin changed brain responses to erotic stimuli in a double-masked crossover trial.[2]

Safety notes from these studies

The kisspeptin-54 growth hormone study in healthy women found no changes in GH, prolactin or TSH.[3]

The analog MVT-602 (a different compound from kisspeptin) was reported safe and well tolerated in premenopausal women in two trials.[1]
