Every oral-route BPC-157 study in the cache is in animals

In rat ligament healing, the oral arm was BPC-157 in drinking water at 0.16 microg/ml, alongside injected and cream arms.[4]

In rat colitis and anastomosis, one arm took the peptide in drinking water and was compared with saline-treated controls.[3]

In a rat colon-to-skin fistula model, healing was reported for both injected and by-mouth dosing.[5]

In mice given a single 12 Gy radiation dose, the peptide was given by mouth and lowered plasma liver enzymes.[1]

In a rat glaucoma experiment the drinking-water regimen started with an intragastric first dose.[2]

What the data say about swallowing versus injecting

The only direct route comparison in the cache is a rat ulcer study, which found intramuscular dosing better than intragastric.[6]

Of the 5 oral-route studies cached, 5 are in rats or mice and 0 are in people; no capsule, tablet or pill was studied in any of them.

Calculated from oral route studies 5; in rodents 5; in humans 0; source cached abstracts 20225319, 24304574, 18818478, 36228773, 35052769. Formula: humans = oralRouteStudies - inRodents = 5 - 5

A systematic review lists no oral human outcome and states there are no clinical safety data.[7]

Common questions

Is there an FDA-approved oral form of BPC-157?

We found no FDA-approved oral product for BPC-157 in our evidence file. Products sold as oral forms are not checked by the FDA.

Have studies given BPC-157 as a oral form?

5 studies in our evidence file gave BPC-157 by a oral route: 0 in people and 5 in animals.

Does BPC-157 work in capsules or pills?

None of the oral studies tested a capsule; the routes were drinking water or tube feeding in animals, and the review found only 1 clinical study overall.[7]

Is oral BPC-157 FDA approved?

The systematic review states that the peptide lacks FDA approval.[7]
