Does BPC-157 work?
Whether this peptide works in people is mostly untested: an orthopaedic systematic review found 36 studies, and only 1 of them was clinical.
Short answer
Whether this peptide works in people is mostly untested: an orthopaedic systematic review found 36 studies, and only 1 of them was clinical.[1]
The same review found no human safety data, which matters because 'works' also has to be weighed against harm.[1]
What the human reports show
A chart review of knee-pain patients at one private clinic reported relief in most of those reached by phone, but the follow-up times varied from person to person.[2]
The knee study was retrospective, so patients were not assigned to treatment and compared with a control group.[2]
A 12-woman bladder pain pilot reported that most participants rated their symptoms fully resolved after one injection procedure; it had no placebo group.[3]
What the animal work shows
In a recent rat Achilles tendon experiment, tendon histology scores in the treated group were lower than in controls but not by a statistically significant margin.[4]
In rats whose Achilles tendon had been cut, an early study reported that BPC 157 improved recovery compared with untreated controls.[5]
