In rabbits with a surgically made gap in a forearm bone, BPC-157 significantly improved the healing of the bone defect.[11]

In rats with ligature-induced periodontitis, daily BPC 157 reduced inflammation markers and loss of the bone around the teeth; this is an animal model of gum disease.[12]

A scoping review of six peptides, BPC-157 among them, found that 67% of the publications it identified used preclinical animal models.[13]

The same review concluded that the claimed benefits of these peptides for musculoskeletal recovery remain unsubstantiated by current human trials.[13]
